Umguza RDC to demolish illegal structures

Umguza Rural District Council (RDC)

UMGUZA Rural District Council (RDC) has ordered 15 companies and individuals to immediately demolish structures at Rangemore which were allegedly not approved by council.

Council chief executive officer Collins Moyo said the structures were constructed in contravention of the Regional Town and Country Planning Act [Chapter 29:12] of 1996 and Umguza RDC land use by-laws of 1996 and model buildings by-laws of 1977.

“That is to say, you have proceeded with carrying out developments in Lower Rangemore, which are the opening and construction of roads, allocation of stands to various individuals and construction of buildings and structures without a development permit and without the approval of Umguza RDC  as the local planning authority of the area," Moyo said in a notice.

“Therefore, take note that in terms of section 32 of the Act you are hereby ordered to discontinue all operations on, or of any use of the land concerning, or any use of any building thereon, and the carrying out on the land concerned of any building or any other operations.”

Umguza RDC said all illegal developments and unapproved buildings would be demolished within 31 days of publication of the notice.

“Whether or not an appeal is lodged against this enforcement order by any person, Umguza RDC may in terms of section 34 of the said Act at anytime before it comes into operation, serve a prohibition order, prohibiting the continuation of all or any of the operations or uses specified on this enforcement order,” Moyo said.
