MAZ zeros in on environmental, governance issues

Rusike said the organisation was poised for an exciting year of growth and innovation as MAZ strives to entrench the marketers’ position as a driving force of organisational growth.

MARKETERS Association of Zimbabwe (MAZ) executive secretary Gillian Rusike says the organisation will this year focus on environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues.

ESG issues are increasingly becoming an important part of economies, and globally lenders are taking an active role in examining ESG compliance before funding projects.

In a message to members, Rusike said the organisation was poised for an exciting year of growth and innovation as MAZ strives to entrench the marketers’ position as a driving force of organisational growth.

“Our commitment to excellence remains unwavering, and we are dedicated to surpassing your expectations in every interaction,” he said.

“As we step into 2024, I want to share with you our renewed commitment to making a positive impact on the world around us. This year, at Marketers Association of Zimbabwe we are wholeheartedly focusing on and pushing forward environmental, social and governance issues.

“The significance of ESG considerations has never been more apparent, and we believe that smart marketing is not only crucial for our planet and society but also fundamental to sustainable long-term success.

“In line with this commitment, we are embarking on a journey to integrate ESG principles into every facet of our operations and therefore cascade this to every member organisation who subscribe to our ethos.”

On environmental responsibility, he indicates that the organisation was dedicated to minimising its environmental footprint, from reducing carbon emissions to implementing eco-friendly practices in their supply chain.

MAZ also aims to foster positive social change within the organisation and beyond. This includes promoting diversity, equity and inclusion, while ensuring fair labour practices and contributing to communities in which they operate.

“Strong governance is the backbone of ethical and transparent business operations. We are enhancing our governance structures to uphold the highest standards of accountability and integrity,” he said.

This year MAZ hopes to focus on elevating its services and partnerships, leveraging on cutting-edge technologies and fostering stronger connections with clients, members and partners.

“Your success is our priority, and we are determined to be a catalyst for your achievements. Our partners in the region including Zambia, Malawi and the wider Africa base are continuously availing more opportunities for us to grow as professionals and organization through synergistic relationships. We are committed to nurturing and leveraging these relationships to their full potential,” the MAZ executive secretary added.
