BY MELINDA KUSEMACHIBI Award-winning comedian Nqobizitha Mitchel Dube, popularly known as Q Dube in showbiz circles, is set to lead the laugh out galore with his latest comedy night show “I Wish I Was Joking” which he makes a date with Reps Theatre in Harare on August 12.
Q Dube is a multi-talented stand-up comedian, radio personality, TV presenter, actor, voice-over artist as well as wedding and cooperate function director of ceremonies.
He was the National Arts Merits Awards Stand-up Comedian of the Year winner in 2017.
South Africa-based arts hub Xtratime Entertainment, who are organising the show, confirmed to Standard Style last week that Q Dube was on his way to Harare.
“Some know him as Q Dube, others just as Q and we know him as Mr Rib Cracker and I would like to confirm that he is coming to Zimbabwe for a one-man show on Friday August 12, 2022 at Reps Theatre in Harare,” said Wishart “Shiplings” Mashipe, Xtratime Entertainment’s spokesperson.
“If Q can`t make you laugh in Zimbabwe then no one else will make you laugh. I Wish I Was Joking is a show which he had worked on during lockdown and post lockdown.”
Mashipe said Q Dube’s performance was brilliant, hence the reason why he pulls big crowds whenever he performs.
“His performance is flawless and like wine he continues to improve with age,” Mashipe said.
“His stage presence is brilliant that is why the crowd loves Q Dube and Q Dube also loves the crowd.
“If there is a comedian who is consistent Q Dube is the man.”
According to Mashipe has a rich CV having shared the stage with international comedians such as Trevor Noah, Basketmouth, Anne Kansiime, Edi Kadii, Loyiso Gola, Alfred Kainga, Long John and The Goliaths.
He has performed at numerous major comedy festivals namely Harare International Festival of the Arts, Shoko Festival, Johannesburg International Comedy Festival and Swaziland Bushfire Festival.
Mashipe said advance tickets are available at The Reps Theatre box office.
