Zimbabwe's premier urban culture celebration, Shoko Festival, is set to ignite Harare with its highly anticipated Mash Up Night.
This groundbreaking event, scheduled for Friday, September 27 at Harare Gardens, will showcase a captivating fusion of hip hop, dance, and theatre, celebrating Zimbabwe's rich urban culture and diverse soundscape.
Curated by the renowned multidisciplinary artist AneUnhu, Mash Up Night promises an unforgettable evening of storytelling through music and theatre.
The event will feature performances from over 15 talented artists, including South African headliner Nadia Nakai and the rising Zim hip-hop star, Kayflow.
AneUnhu has carefully crafted a lineup that will leave a lasting impression on Zimbabwe's urban cultural landscape.
Speaking about the event, he said: "I am honoured to be part of this one-night-only variety showcase.
“We will explore life and living with artists from all over the nation and discover the commonalities that unite us.
“This event will solidify our creative union as a people who have stood together through various challenges."
Vera Chisvo, Shoko Festival coordinator, added: “Mash Up Night will be a celebration of the shared experiences of Zimbabweans from both sides of Samora Machel — the culturally prosperous south and the opulent north. It's a night where these diverse cultures will come together to create a cultural explosion."
Festival goers can expect an unforgettable evening filled with incredible performances.
Nadia Nakai, the renowned rap queen, will be making her return to Zimbabwe from South Africa for this special event.
Joining her will be Kayflow, one of Zimbabwe's most boundary-pushing hip-hop artists.
The uniquely curated program will also feature performances by Lalla Martin, RayKaz, Shebeen Rap, Rutendo Jackie, Bhekiwé, and more.
The musical talent will be supported by an incredible band, including Jairos Hambahamba, Geoffrey Ndekha, Basil Mahachi, Wellington, and vocalists Min'enhle and Sher.
In addition to the musical performances, the event will feature a rap battle entitled "King of Samora," curated by conscious MC Noble Styles.
This battle will pit rappers Donne Jovi and Gilmo against Fund Reezy and Double Jae.
To enhance the overall experience, world-class lighting will be provided by Zimbabwe's internationally renowned lighting designer, Mildred Moyo.
Her expertise will add a touch of magic to the show.
