DINEL Makwesera, an upcoming podcaster in Bulawayo says she is striving to motivate and create a safe space for the youth.
Makwesera is a podcaster, campus radio personality, content creator and a Journalism and Media Studies student at the National University of Science and Technology.
In an interview, Makwesera said her podcast “Vibes with Dee” which started airing in 2022 on YouTube is all about motivating the youth and creating a safe space for them.
“As the youth, there is so much pressure that we are facing around us, and Vibes with Dee is a safe space where anyone can come and share everything that they face so that they motivate others,” said Makwesera.
“I do not choose or categorise individuals that I invite on my podcast, but anyone who has something to say or has been through something can come.
“It has been a fun learning curve, I remember my first episode was posted everywhere. It trended on ZimCelebs and NashTV, my first episode was insane, even my second episode everything was flames."
She also hosts other podcasts which include Byo Connect, a show meant to connect and build people, and The Counterfeits which is about everything and anything that is happening around the world, which also airs on YouTube.
When asked about what motivated her, Makwesera says that she loves attention and the vibe that she gets when she is in front of the camera and she enjoys it more than being in front of people.
Makwesera mentioned that she had experiences where those (friends) she thought would support her journey were not supporting her but those that did not know her supported her, and this made her stick to her mantra that the word try does not hurt.
She said she had challenges juggling between being a student, a podcaster and radio personality at the same time.
"I have had challenges when it comes to time management", said the podcaster.
"I have to be a podcaster, a radio presenter, a student, a daughter and a sister all at the same time and that is challenging."
