GOSPEL musician Rose Mambo says being fashion-conscious and tight on aesthetics have enabled her to build her brand.
Mambo, who is riding high following the release of the video of her song Nzira Yangu as part of her birthday celebrations, last Tuesday described to Standard Style how important dressing is to her.
“My appearance is the first thing that others notice about me and I always make an effort to dress well for every occasion,” she said.
“For instance, at the workplace, dressing professionally helps form a positive impression in meetings, interviews and can also have a bearing in making promotion decisions and other important decisions.
“I also believe that in branding myself as an artiste, my appearance, the way I present myself and carry myself around is important to help buttress the message that I carry in my music.
“You also tend to be taken seriously when you carry yourself well and present yourself well.
“We are now in an era where a number of aspects constitute a brand even where one’s motive is purely in ministration.”
The fashion savvy gospel musician said one’s presentation, the quality of their productions and personality, among other attributes play a crucial role in bringing out an artist as a complete package.
An ardent Manchester United fan and golf player, Mambo said going to the gym was a critical component of her lifestyle.
“Visiting the gym and keeping fit is also another important attribute, which is good for our health and physical appearance and mental well being,” she said.
“There is a saying that one cannot pour from an empty cup. For me to have an influence on the next person through my music, I also need to have invested in my own self care.
“I have also incorporated marathon running into my training regime and it’s been so good for the mind, networking and setting targets and achieving them.
“There is a lot of hard work involved in marathon training and it teaches me the discipline of working towards a set target.”
Mambo has since released visuals for the song Nzira Yangu featuring the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe Trinity Society Ruwadzano.
The video, which was directed by Kmane, was shot in Harare.
Jah Prayzah had input on the compilation of the song Nzira Yangu which was released in August.
As of Friday, the video had accumulated 30 000 views on YouTube.
DJ Tamuka produced the song.
Mambo said she thrives to give all her productions, especially videos, the necessary creativity that they deserve.
“I try to bring out the message of what the song is talking about in my videos,” she said.
“With Nzira Yangu, I did not follow a storyline as such, but since I am talking about trying to find light in my path, I had to invite the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe Trinity society Ruwadzano to feature in the video to bring out the aspect of having the Christian community around you during your moments of weakness.”
