Popular urban grooves musician Dino Mudondo will next month release a single titled Love Yangu Newe in a move that brings nostalgic experiences designed to rekindle memories of the early 2000 when the Johannesburg-based musician was on top of this world.
Co-written with Kuno Mawire, Love Yangu Newe is a reggae lovers’ rock song that depicts a steamy relationship between a “ghetto boy” and an uptown lady who is liable to dare social norms for her to define her happiness.
The harmonic performance brings together voices of legends Mudondo, Willom Tight and Diana Samkange into ties for a trip down memory lane, back to the urban grooves era.
Mudondo, who described the forthcoming project as a re-union with his buddies said: “The song is an epic adventure of some truthfulness in my heart longing for realities I once broke away from.
“Having been away from home for a very long time, on my return I had this plan of reuniting with old and new musical friends to help me put together an album," he said.
“While I searched, I learnt that one good friend from Bulawayo married his long-time girlfriend from Harare and l was filled with this unexplainable joy of seeing them together.
“And that triggered the birth of this song.”
Mudondo said he was happy that his old buddie Willom Tight agreed to be part of the project..
“After writing the song, Kuno suggested we feature Willom Tight and I reached out to him,” he said.
“He was also glad to be part of the project.
“The expeditions started answering to the many questions that we begging for answers.”
The single will be released on August 7, a day Mudondo will be celebrating his 45th birthday.
“The single is extracted from my forthcoming album titled Back2Front,” Mudondo said.
“It will be accompanied by a video that features Willom Tight, Kuno Mawire and Cleo Mashingaidze among others.
“All we are doing is saying thank you to God for the gift of life, the blessing of love and music which am glad to share with fans across the world.”
