BY KUDZAI CHITSATSO Upcoming author Tanatsiwa Christabel Dube has released her debut book titled The Bride of Lucifer’s Son.
The 18-year-old Gweru author released the book at a launch ceremony held in the Midlands provincial capital last Wednesday.
In an interview with Standard Style, Dube said her new book highlights how society is being affected by gender-based violence, drug and substance use as well as violations of children’s rights.
“The book is mainly about the impact of domestic violence, drug and substance abuse and how they are affecting our society and generations to come,” she said.
“It also speaks about how violent conflict resolution is giving birth to further problems in our society.
“Some of the effects are community fragmentation as we are now trying to commit ourselves to gender roles and this is causing a surge in further conflicts and trying and problems such as drug and substances users committing suicide due to depression caused by these problems.
“Other problems include how child abuse affects a child mentally, emotionally, physically and socially. Abused children usually isolate themselves from others and have bitterness and anger inside them which causes them to inflict pain on others.”
The author said her great inspiration in her book is Ammara Brown.
“Well I am a realist, my three sources of inspiration are my music, my emotions and situations that happen to me and around me,” she said.
“My writings are all linked to these sources of inspiration and so l can safely say that I am a passionate writer.
“My greatest inspiration is Ammara Brown. All my writings are aimed at edutainment though sometimes hidden but l always make sure that a lesson is taught.”
Dube is doing her A Level studies at African Leadership Academy in Johannesburg, South Africa and she is a defender of Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights at Students and Youth Working on Reproductive Health Action Team.
