Northern Region Soccer League (NRSL) title aspirants MWOS say they celebrated the championship after beating Agama FC on their last match at Ngoni Stadium because they believe they are the true champions.
It was a comical end to a controversial NRSL title race with the top two teams MWOS and Scottland celebrating the championship early this month.
Conspicuously the NRLS leadership led by Martin Kweza opted to crown Scottland in spite of a pending issue involving a match between Scottland and Karoi United with the ZIFA Appeals Committee for which the division one league disciplinary committee had awarded points to the former.
But Scottland's celebrations which included embarrassingly taking the lower tier trophy to President Emmerson Mnangagwa have been muted after the Zifa Appeals Committee sat last week and are set to release the judgment this week.
MWOS FC chairman Cleyton Arimoso stated that they had every reason to celebrate because they are the champions.
"As a club we celebrated because we are the champions and the whole country knows that we are the winners. On the log standing we are the champions because we are at the top. We have more right than them (Scottland FC) to celebrate, while we wait for the verdict of the Karoi United and Scottland FC game," Arimoso told this publication.
The Norton-based club is already shifted focus to preparations for next season possibly Castle Lager Premier Soccer League as they are currently invested in renovating their home ground, Ngoni Stadium as well as beefing up the squad.
"It is unfortunate that the court issue is disturbing our preparations and programmes. Right now we are busy renovating our home ground Ngoni Stadium, we are not waiting for the outcome to start preparing for the new season otherwise we will be caught off guard so this is just to avoid racing against time.
"We are also working on trying to beef up our club by getting some good new signings," he said.
Arimoso said the club is extremely happy that their team performed above expectations and believes there is every reason to reward them for their brave efforts.
"Our team played very well. We need to motivate them by rewarding them monetarily," Arimoso said.
The MWOS FC chairman also took time to talk about the vision of the club as well as the future for head coach Lloyd Mutasa and his technical team.
"As a club there is a need for us to grow bigger and be more professional. Our main idea is to be in the Premier Soccer League of which we have achieved that.
"We have few ideas that we feel if we implement them they can have a very big impact in the topflight league," Arimoso said.
"We are very happy with the way Lloyd Mutasa has led our club together with his technical team. His performance was so good and now there is a need to sit down with Mutasa so as to complement his hard fought efforts going forward," Arimoso said.
All eyes are now on the Appeals Committee's judgement which will decide who goes up into the top flight league.
Indication suggests that they will overturn the decision to award the three points to Scottland on 3 - 0 scoreline and award a point each or possibly order the team to finish the remaining minutes of the match which was abandoned with a few minutes remaining.
