EAGLES head coach Eric Chauluka remains focused on future successes despite shattering domestic first-class records in Bulawayo.

His team's impressive 716/9 in 149.4 overs against Tuskers at Queens Sports Club eclipsed Mountaineers' previous record (631).

Four centuries from top and middle-order batsmen powered the Eagles' achievement.

Dion Myers top-scored with 179 from 198 balls Craig Ervine hit 171 (226), Kudzai Maunze weighed in with 113 (193) while Tadiwanashe Marumani was unbeaten on 107 (112) as Eagles declared on 716/d.

Eagles' carnage was in response to Tuskers' first innings score of 321 all out in 92.1 overs. They went on to bowl out Tuskers twice, Alex Russell the star of the show claiming his second fiver of the match restricting the hosts to 190 all out in 34.3 overs.

Eagles duly won the match by an innings and 205 runs while Russell claimed 10 wickets for 140 runs from 34.1 overs.

Chauluka's measured response hints at greater ambitions as four massive centuries ignited this triumph.

"For us coming to Tuskers, we had just one thing in mind, all we wanted to do was to win the two games the Pro 50 and the Logan Cup but breaking the records was just something else," Chauluka told The Sports Hub.

"As Eagles, we pride ourselves in playing positive cricket, we dominate in all the three aspects of the game and we did exactly that coming to Bulawayo. Everybody deserved that victory and breaking records for us will definitely go a long way in making our league title aspirations a near reality."

Veteran batsman Ervine seems to have regained his mojo, scoring big in both Pro 50 Championship and the Logan Cup. Ervine scored 103 not out in the drawn Logan Cup encounter against Southern Rocks and 171 against Tuskers. He also scored 135 and 88 against Rocks and Tuskers in the Pro 50 matches.

The upcoming players are also fitting in nicely in the team with massive contributions with the bat.

"There is a balance. The good thing for us is that everybody knows their roles so when you are selected into the 11 you know exactly what is expected of you and what you need to do to make sure the team crosses the line," added Chauluka.

"As for Craig he's been around for a long time and he's just showing his class now. He's in fine form yes, but remember the ultimate goal is the national team so what he does with the Eagles; it's a reflection of what he can do for Zimbabwe going forward.

"The good thing is that we have got Test matches coming up and for him to be in this form is something that we can celebrate because obviously in one way or the other he will need to dominate and lead from the front when we play against Afghanistan and Pakistan."

Chauluka is being assisted by former Zimbabwe captain Chamu Chibhabha

The Eagles currently lead the Logan Cup standings on 39 points after two rounds of matches. Rhinos are in second on 31 points,

Mountaineers are third on 23 in one match, Rocks with 18 points are in fourth place while Tuskers anchor the table on 14 points. Eagles also lead the Pro 50 Championship charge on net run rate.
