The exciting Northern Region Soccer League (NRSL) title race continues this afternoon with ambitious side Scottland looking to claim a crucial away win in Shamva.

Log leaders MWOS FC also have a tricky away encounter with DZ Royal FC at One Commando Barracks as look to to maintain their grip on the ticket for top flight football promotion.

Army side Black Rhinos have thrust themselves into the picture for the title run in with a fairytale 4 - 3 come back win over bottom side Zambezi C & G to leapfrog Scottland into second place yesterday.

MWOS FC are currently on top of the log with 64 points and Rhinos are now second on 59 points having played a game more than the leaders while Scotland FC sit third on 57 points.

Scottland are also waiting for the outcome of their abandoned match against Karoi United.

While the recent form by the Scott Sakupwanya owned side has not been the best, coach Genesis Mangombe is hoping for maximum points against Shamva FC today.

"The fixtures are now becoming tense and some of the teams want to survive relegation and some  want to also win to be in the title race so it's a bit tricky but we need to focus on every game  it comes. We need to be serious in every game and also we need to focus on our games alone so that we don't put unnecessary pressure on ourselves. It’s not a big margin(from the leaders) if you are committed and if you know what you are playing for so we try our level best to post positive results in every assignment and you know every game is different," he said.

In the last three matches Scottland have collected five out of a possible nine points with one win and two draws.

Mangombe's men won the reverse fixture against Shamva FC by a three nil scoreline.

‘’I think division one is not easy, it's very difficult to get promotion. We have a lot of challenges especially in terms of the terrain because when we play at shamva the pitch is different from where we train and also different  from where we play in our home matches so we have to try and adjust.

"Shamva is trying to fight relegation so the game is going to be difficult for everyone  but we will try to give our all in the match because we are almost there and we don’t know what will come out from our rivals so we will try our best to get maximum points when we play Shamva,”  Mangombe said.

Scottland will be missing the services of Denver Mukamba who picked up a knock in the previous match on Saturday.
