Warriors midfielder Andy Rinomhota has joined Rotherham United on a six-month loan deal from Cardiff City after falling down the pecking order at the Blue Birds this season.
The Leeds-born defensive linkman made his international debut for Zimbabwe in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Nigeria in Rwanda late last year.
Rinomhota has made just three appearances for Cardiff City this season, including one start and two substitute appearances while he has made it on the match day squad 13 times.
Interestingly the 26-year-old player made his only start for the struggling Bluebirds last weekend in a 3 - 1 defeat away at Plymouth Argyle.
After Cardiff City coach Erol Bulut brought in the likes of Aaron Ramsey and Manolis Siopis in the summer it became apparent that Rinomhota would become excess baggage for the club.
Rotherham United announced the signing of the Zimbabwean star on deadline day for the January transfer window last Thursday.
"Rotherham United are delighted to confirm the deadline day loan capture of Andy Rinomhota from Cardiff City, subject to EFL and FA ratification and international clearance," they said in a statement on their official website.
"The 26-year-old makes the temporary switch to AESSEAL New York Stadium until the conclusion of the 2023/24 campaign with his arrival marking the Millers’ first signing of the winter transfer window.
"The former Reading man has already turned out eight times for parent club Cardiff City across all competitions this season, three of which appearances came in the calendar month of January.
"The Leeds-born midfielder can call upon a wealth of Sky Bet Championship experience with Reading and Cardiff City having played out the entirety of his career at the level since his 2015 switch from AFC Portchester to the Select Car Leasing Stadium.
"Rinomhota also has international pedigree to his name with Zimbabwe, for whom he has turned out for once so far and qualifies to represent through his father.
"Everyone at Rotherham United would like to issue a warm welcome to Andy and wish him all the best during his time in South Yorkshire," the club said.
While Cardiff City sat on 14th position going into this weekend's matches Rotherham are in danger of relegation as they anchor the 24-team standings with just 19 points from 28 matches.
Rinomhota's immediate task would be to help the club survive relegation.
The midfielder signed for the Bluebirds from Reading in 2022, making a total of 48 appearances for the Club in all competitions so far.
