There was drama at a village in Mount Darwin when an artisanal miner was caught raping a mental patient, who has hearing and speech impairement.
James Museredza (38) from Kandeya was caught raping the mental patient by an angry mob.
Museredza was sentenced to 15 years behind bars by Bindura regional magistrate Elisha Singano for the offence.
Prosecutors said on February 16 , the rapist met the victim at a borehole and pledged to assist her by carrying her buckets.
After fetching water he carried the buckets while going through a bushy area.
Museredza suddenly pinned the victim down and started raping her.
A minor boy, who had seen Museredza dragging the victim rushed back to the borehole and summoned other villagers to the scene.
The villagers caught Museredza raping the victim and they handed him over to
the police.
