A 41-YEAR-OLD woman, Doreen Dlodlo, from Emganwini in Bulawayo is appealing for US$600 to purchase an oxygen concentrator to help save her lungs from collapsing.
“I was diagnosed with the disease in 2022 and it’s a combination of several chronic diseases among them blood pressure and sugar diabetes,” she told Southern Eye.
“I am appealing for an oxygen concentrator valued at US$600. The situation has been exacerbated by the cold weather conditions currently predominant in the country. I was self-employed as a vendor, but I am now bedridden because of the disease and cannot fend for my children as before.
“My husband deserted me over a year ago and I am now afraid of going back to the hospital for a full-time oxygen support system because of [what I am] owing there.”
She said she was being looked after by her family members.
Emganwini residents chairperson Janana Ngwenya said the community was trying to mobilise resources to support her cause.
“We have approached different individuals, even our Member of Parliament to mobilise the resources. No one has come through yet, but we hope through the grace of the Lord well-wishers will come forward through cash and kind because her children are now owing the school as well [sic],” Ngwenya said.
