KADOMA City Council has embarked on an expansion drive to develop more than 60 commercial stands, a move that is set to change the face of the city.

Mayor Nigel Ruzario said the stands, Baobab commercial stands, would see council encouraging potential investors to consider eco-friendly buildings as part of the local authority’s greening the city initiative.

“We have started servicing at least 68 Baobab commercial stands, where we expect state-of-the-art buildings that will change the face of Kadoma,” he said.

“As part of our greening the city initiative”, we expect potential investors to highly-consider ideas with green building designs.”

Ruzario said the use of green construction materials would ensure natural ventilation, environmentally-friendly floorings as well as eco-friendly roofing.

“The advantage of these strategies is that they have the potential to drive higher occupancy, tenant retention and value for investors,” he said.

Ruzario said the stands, measuring between 2 000 to 10 000 square metres, would be sold at US$20 per square metre.

He said the commercial hub would make the city a destination of choice for investors and grow the Kadoma economy.

Ruzario said the commercial site would be home to state-of-the-art shops, offices and factories, among other commercial buildings.

The development of the commercial hub comes at a time when the local authority has embarked on a rehabilitation drive of its water and sewage reticulation systems as well as strategies to improve waste management.
