THE Greater Mutare Women Ecumenical Fellowship, under the Zimbabwe Christian Church (ZCC), has extended a helping hand to the Sakubva District Hospital Maternity Wing through donating essential goods to support the vital work of the healthcare facility.
The hospital received 51 blankets and loads of baby wear.
The fellowship is made up of women from 31 mainstream churches in Mutare.
In an interview on the sidelines of the donation, the patron of the fellowship, Lovermore Machipisa, said the gesture was aimed at improving the lives of mothers and newborns in the community.
“We found it as a worthy cause to make this donation to the Sakubva District Hospital Maternity Wing after we realised that they were in great need of these essentials. This underscores the church’s commitment to serving those in need,” Machipisa said.
“With the ward facing numerous challenges in providing quality care, the Greater Mutare Women Ecumenical Fellowship, under ZCC’s timely intervention, is set to bring hope and relief to countless families.
“The church is the community and as the church we work with the community and it is very important for us now to plough back to the community.”
The chairperson of the fellowship group, Judith Muringa said: “As Greater Mutare Women Ecumenical Fellowship, we looked at places and institutions that we felt needed assistance. We then set down and identified Sakubva District Hospital Maternity ward. We realised that they required blankets and baby wear, thus, coming up with this donation.”
