THE family of Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) activist and clergyman, bishop Tapfumaneyi Masaya, has identified his body at Parirenyatwa Hospital in Harare following his abduction by unknown suspects.
"The body has been positively identified by the wife, Maria Zhuwawo,” family lawyer Innocent Gonese confirmed to NewsDay.
Masaya was allegedly abducted on November 11 in Mabvuku, Harare, while campaigning for Munyaradzi Febion Kufahakutizwi, a party candidate for the upcoming December 9 by-election.
In a statement, Police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said: "The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms that the body has been identified by the next of kin as that of Tapfumanei Masaya (51). The Police is currently conducting comprehensive investigations on the circumstances surrounding Tapfumanei Masaya's death while at the same time waiting for the full post mortem report."
