PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa yesterday appointed Omega Hungwe to the politburo, saying her name had been left out from the list announced last week in error.

Hungwe was removed as deputy secretary for the commissariat in a mini-reshuffle that was announced last year December.

In a statement on Wednesday, Zanu PF secretary for administration, Obert Mpofu, said: “Reference is made to the statement released on December 23, 2022, on the appointments of the politburo by HE, the President and First Secretary of the party Cde ED Mnangagwa. The statement omitted on the list, the name of Cde Omega Hungwe who was appointed into the politburo as a committee member.”

In the reshuffle made in December last year, Mnangagwa replaced Hungwe with Lillian Zemura as deputy secretary for the commissariat.

However, Zemura did not retain her position. She was replaced by Webster Shamu.

Other committee members appointed by Mnangagwa last week include Tshinga Dube, Frederick Shava, Tsitsi Muzenda, Molly Mpofu and Daniel Mackenzie Ncube.
