ZIMDANCEHALL chanter Winky D and Freeman will tonight bring the curtains down in Gweru in the first big summer gig in the Midlands capital.

The Big Man, as Winky D is affectionately known by his fans and Afro-dancehall artiste, Freeman, will perform alongside talented musicians Kae Chaps, Unkat and Voltz JT.

Turntable masters DJ Crocx and MC Mercilless Zimbabwe are expected to keep music lovers on their feet.

Award-winning music promoter Partson “Chipaz” Chimbodza confirmed the musical show.

He told NewsDay Life & Style that it will be “the mother of all gigs” to be brought to the city courtesy of Chipaz Promotions.

“Indeed, Chipaz Promotions is behind the Winky D, Freeman and other artistes, gig to be held at the Gweru Sports Club this Saturday,” he said.

“I understand the Midlands has a multitude of fans for dancehall music and this show is one not to be missed.

“People should come in their numbers and enjoy the summer breeze through musical entertainment courtesy of Chipaz Promotions.”

Advance tickets are being sold at Chicken Inn and Diamond Pharmacy.

In his previous performances in Gweru, Winky D has proved to be popular with both the young and old generations as his music provides social commentary on day-to-day societal experiences.
