ZIZO Motion Pictures will launch the second feature film screening, A Trap of Trade, at Ster-Kinekor in Bulawayo on Saturday.
Zizo Motion Pictures is a registered youth-led organisation that specialises in content creation on developmental issues.
“We shot the film last year in October and it was released on June 29 at Ster-Kinekor. Now we are screening it again with the support from Ster-Kinekor,” film producer and director Praise Nkala told NewsDay Life & Style.
The film, made under the Safe and Inclusive Cities project and funded by Plan International Zimbabwe, was produced in October last year and had its first screening in June this year.
A Trap of Trade is a powerful and thought-provoking film where the youth came together to shed light on the harsh realities of unprotected sex, abortion, teenage pregnancy, child marriages and gender-based violence.
The story follows a 15-year-old girl named Sarah, whose life takes a tragic turn when she becomes pregnant after a brief encounter with JB, a man with political ambitions.
"As a filmmaker, I've always been driven by a passion to tell stories that shed light on the most pressing issues of our time. A Trap of Trade was born out of a deep concern for the welfare of young girls and women who are vulnerable to exploitation, manipulation and abuse,” Nkala said.
He said the film's narrative was inspired by real-life stories of teenage pregnancy, child marriage and gender-based violence that have shocked and outraged him.
“A Trap of Trade is more than just a film it's a call to action. It's a reminder that we must work together to break the silence surrounding these issues and demand justice for those who have been victimised,” Nkala said.
“By sharing Sarah's story, we hope to inspire empathy, understanding and a sense of responsibility towards creating a more just and equitable world for all.
“Safe and Inclusive Cities project in this film aimed at promoting youth participation in advocacy and making sure that our communities are safe, including economic empowerment.”
