Nkomo said this last Wednesday during a press briefing on the film Ziyanda whose production is expected to begin in November this year.

The Inaugural KwaNtuthu Comedy Festival will run from October 27 to October 29 under the theme This is for you.

The production house is seeking about 26 members between the ages of 13-42 from all over the country.

In Shona, Gukurahundi means the first rains that cleanse all the dirt; and in this context it is used to refer to ethnic cleansing. 

The production was supposed to be shot in April 2020 but postponed due to Covid-19 which hit the world for the past two and half years.

Nkomo, who is a member of Insingizi Emnyama group, also features artistes from Zimbabwe, South Africa, Congo and Burkina Faso on the album.

He said the Asakhe Film Festival intends to highlight the importance of transitional justice using film and testimonies from some of the survivors. 

This year’s edition, which is the third contest, runs under the theme ‘Shifting Perceptions’. Change is difficult.

Dube told Standard Style that the play seeks to correct, preserve and promote Zimbabwe’s rich history and cultural heritage.

“This year, 860 women took part in this contest by decorating their home with different shades of clay.

There was a Gqula Inkelo (Amarula kernel cracking) competition where the participants contested in cracking the kernels with nuts coming out unbroken.

Maremera told Standard Style that the book was a unique novel of literary work, which tackles some of the contemporary contextual women’s empowerment issues.

Duduzile Sibanda told Standard Style that the tour is an opportunity for them to educate the US about Southern Africa, music origins, culture and tradition.
