At least 40 golf clubs in Zimbabwe are set to benefit from the 2025 All Africa Golf Team Championship legacy programme which will see the golf institutions receive golf equipment for junior development.
Zimbabwe successfully hosted the 2024 All Africa Golf Team Championship which saw 11 countries taking part and South Africa emerging the victors.
The Zimbabwe Golf Association (ZGA) has seized the opportunity to tie the 2024 AAGTC to a powerful, long-term initiative—the Legacy Golf Programme.
Three Bulawayo-based golf clubs namely Bulawayo Golf Club, Harry Allen and Bulawayo Country Club received golf equipment courtesy of R & A and Delta Corporation Zimbabwe at the conclusion of the biennial continental championship last week.
The programme is set to be extended to other clubs in provinces across the country and this legacy golf programme is expected to empower junior golfers.
"Our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation goes to R&A and Delta Corporation for donating Golf Equipment in support of junior development, and this is part of the All Africa Golf Team Championship Tournament legacy programme.

On Friday, Harry Allen, Bulawayo Country, and Bulawayo Golf Clubs received Golf Equipment, and we will move to the other provinces.
R&A was represented by Kevin Barker Golf Development Director while Mrs Tonderai Tshuma stood in for Delta Beverages marketing director Irimayi Muzorewa.
The respective Club Captains received the Equipment on behalf of their clubs," ZGA said in a statement.
The AAGTC legacy is built on two key pillars which are infrastructure and equipment and junior development.
The initiative aligns with Zimbabwe’s broader goals of fostering talent and growing the sport at the grassroots level.
This move is part of a deliberate strategy by the ZGA to ensure that the impact of hosting a continental tournament extends far beyond the event itself.
By equipping junior golfers with basic golf clubs, the Legacy Golf Programme aims to ignite a passion for the sport among young Zimbabweans, offering them the tools they need to learn, practice, and develop their skills. ZGA is already reaping the benefits of investing in junior development evidenced by the youthful team that represented the country in the All Africa Golf Team Championship.
The team included two teenagers in Keegan Shutt and Vincent Chidambazina while it also had a 20 - year - old captain in Michael Wallace. Kelvin Muchenje who is 23 was the other member of the team which finished in a commendable third place at the tournament.
