Teenage female golf star Miriam Masiya continued with her rich vein of form after she won the Mashwede Classic Ladies section carding an impressive score of 74 73 and 74 at Falcon Golf Club on Sunday.

This victory follows her triumph at the National AIDS Council sponsored Zimbabwe Ladies Golf Union Open Amateur Tournament which was held last week where she manage scores of 78 75 and 79 over the three rounds of stroke play.

Masiya had the best scores of the competition across all sections including the men's Championship Division.

“I am very delighted to be on the podium for the second week in a row. It is through hard work that I am doing well. The course was playing very well, and I managed some decent scores. I am very grateful to the Zimbabwe Golf Association and the sponsors for allowing us to play such high-profile matches, which give us some world ranking points,” she said after her latest triumph.

The 15-year-old golfer is a Form two student at Heritage School on a golf scholarship, is a member of the Junior National Team, National Development squad A and the Africa High Performance Programme Camp.

But the biggest winner of the Mashwede Classic was Falcon Golf Club’s Munyaradzi Sithole who secured his first-ever win on the amateur circuit, grossing a total score of 232 to take home the Mashwede Classic championship.

Sithole faced stiff competition from one of the country’s top players on the amateur circuit this year Elton Zulu and Wingate Golf Club’s Shepherd Chiwaya, who both finished tied in second place with total gross scores of 234.

Chiwaya, delivered a strong closing round, shooting a brilliant 72, but it wasn't enough to catch the runaway leader.

Sithole carded 74 81 and 77 in the three rounds while Chiwaya shot 75 87 and 72 and Zulu 83 75 and 76.

In the professional competition, Robson Chinhoyi, who plays on the Sunshine Tour came out top after finishing the tournament on 4 - under par over 54 holes.

Clive Nguru's final round 69 was not enough to him the tournament closing on two under par and Tongoona Charamba's one under par closing round of 73 secured him third place with a final score of three over par.
