BULAWAYO City Council has set aside US$7,4 million to construct two clinics in the city’s two suburbs of Cowdray Park and Emganwini to improve primary healthcare services.

Finance and Development Committee chairperson Mpumelelo Moyo confirmed the development.

“A budget of US$7,4 million has been set aside in the capital budget to address health issues,” he said. “The budget includes the construction of two new council clinics, one in the sprawling Cowdray Park and another one at Emganwini.”

Residents of the two suburbs are forced to travel to neighbouring areas to access primary healthcare services.

Bulawayo Progressive Residents Association chairperson, Ambrose Sibindi welcomed the plans to address healthcare issues in the city.

“Residents in Emganwini are forced to go to Nketa or Nkulumane for healthcare services. The same is happening with Cowdray Park where residents have to go to Luveve,” Sibindi said.
