Environmentalist Never Bonde has urged citizens and government to join the global movement against plastic pollution.
Bonde, who is also the national tree ambassador, made the call last week as the country joined the rest of the world to commemorate World Environment Day on June 5.
He said plastic littering was an environmental threat.
“In Zimbabwe, after eating in public you notice that some people instead of throwing litter into bins litter the ground and some motorists still throw their plastics through the window which continues to increase plastic pollution on our environments," Bonde, who is also director of environmental conservative organisation- Isandla Esihle/ Ruoko Rwakanaka said.
Bonde urged manufacturers to come up with recyclable plastic materials to protect the environment.
