Honour for Imbube legends

Thobela Arts Foundation will next month honour Imbube legends.

The event will be held on April 8 at the Bulawayo Theatre.

“We will hold a show to honour our lmbube legends after we saw it as a good thing to support those who have made it right from the start,” Siziba said.

“These have become our mentors, our inspiration our role models and the  legends have passed through good and harsh situations, but never gave up on the genre.”

He said the idea was meant to motivate others and also held revive the genre.

“This will also motivate and inspire other up and coming artists who love the genre to work extra hard in preserving this genre,” he said.

“Again our own seeing lmbube legends have never been honoured before, I feel there’s a need to do so while they are still alive.

“On my side, I feel we have not reached what we want, few people know and have accepted this genre.

“So we want it  expand and become known and respected genre in the country and worldwide.”

Siziba said they advocating for Imbude to be part of the music curriculumn in schools.

“My prayer is that government might embrace this great vision of the lmbube genre,” he said.

The groups that will be honoured include, Black Umfolosi, Amabhubesi, Imbizo, Sunduza Ubuntu bomuntu, Umdumo Wesizwe Black Spear, UGodlwayo Bright Stars Zondamthakathi, Insingizi and Phelandaba.
