MISS Face Zimbabwe Karen Katsande says beauty is beyond physical appearance, it's the way one carries themselves, from their character and attitude towards others that shows real beauty.
Hoping to push her boundaries and achieve something more significant, Katsande entered the Miss Face of Zimbabwe competition.
"For instance, the way you communicate with others and behave towards your colleagues itself makes a person unique and also appealing to look at, despite how beautiful they may appear on their face," she said.
"The qualities that make a person truly beautiful come from their mindset: how they quickly resolve a situation that's handed in front of them, how you carry yourself, and how well you present yourself to others. Because you might be beautiful, but if you don't have the personality to carry it with you, it won't work well.”
Katsande says her work as a judge in young and teen pageant competitions has helped promote self-confidence and self-esteem among young people.
"I've been able to groom, advise, encourage, and enlighten them at the pageants I've attended. In fact, I was once a judge at Little Miss and Mr Africa Zimbabwe. There, I witnessed talent like Dillish, who went on to represent the country in Nigeria and even won the title of princess! Imagine being able to groom a child from such a young age to become better. That's what makes me happy," she said.
Katsande plans to utilise her title as Miss Face Zimbabwe so that she can be able to be part of discussions of different topical issues ;such as helping people, who are suffering in silence, people who are in need and speak on their behalf and find solutions .

The model advised young and aspiring models to participate in beauty pageants.
"I used to be a procrastinator, but I always loved seeing people walk on stage, especially when watching TV with my mom and grandma. Whenever my grandma switched the channel to a modelling show, she'd call me over, even if I was cooking, so I could watch the fashion show. Somehow, I think she knew or foresaw this path for me.
"But anyway, all I can say is take a leap of faith! It's never too late. Young or old, the time is now,” she said.
