TAURAI Boora, son of the late actor Lazarus Boora known as Gringo has taken over his father’s role in the newly premiered series The return of Gringo.
The series was recently premiered at Ster Kinekor, Joina City, Harare and it features some of the old cast that used to work with Lazarus.
It has the likes of Gweshegweshe, Godobori, Mbudziyadhura, and Stellah January.
Taurai, who has earned the moniker Gringaldino, said in an interview with Standard Style that people should expect to see the skills of the new Gringo and not the old Gringo senior in the new series.
“At the moment we are working with two characters namely Gringo senior and Junior so people should expect to see Gringo junior and maybe one or two traits that I took from my father,” said Gringaldino.
“My father had his own style that I could never master but there are some traits that I inherited from him. I also have some unique skills that even if my father was alive, he would have never mastered them hence people should expect to see those.
“My father left a really huge gap when he passed on and we have been trying to do what we can to fill it so that we can build on the legacy he left for us. Who knows maybe my siblings or kids may also want to take up acting or arts someday.”
The return of Gringo series has so far released two episodes that are available on YouTube and they will be releasing up to 13 episodes.

Taurai told Standard Style that his father started acting at the tender age of 12 and had been doing it for as long as he could remember. Even though he had taken up the role of his father in the series at the age of 29, Taurai said it had not been difficult for him since he got the right support.
“Taking up the role of Gringo in the series was not that difficult for me because I had already been coached on what to do. I know other people would love for me to act exactly like my father but I cannot mimic him totally,” said Gringaldino
“I am very grateful for the team I am working with, the likes of Mbudziyadhura, Chatibutao, Gweshe Gweshe, Jairos and Stella. These people have been very supportive and have remained loyal to my father and I am happy that they are making sure that his legacy will never be forgotten while helping me create another legacy.”
The actor added that although they had been and are still facing challenges in trying to hold up his father’s legacy, their dream was to take the series to international levels if they were to get the right financial support.
