BY TERRY MADYAUTA JOEY Antipas is fretting that his faltering defence could turn out to be an Achilles heel in Chicken Inn’s bid to win their second Premier Soccer League title.
The GameCocks have been uncharacteristically porous in their last two matches against Manica Diamonds and WhaWha, where they conceded six goals.
They forced a 3-3 draw with Manica Diamonds before succumbing to a shock defeat at the hands WhaWha on Saturday, which Antipas attributed to poor defending and attitude.
The defeat to WhaWha has left the former Warriors coach doubting his usually steely and steady backline in the marathon of the league.
Centre-backs Moses Jackson and Nelson Ketala have been lethargic and Antipas is already regretting his decision of not adding more defenders to his ranks.
“The way we have been defending is worrisome. It has all been our own doing because nothing has been going on well for us,” Antipas said.
“We could have won both matches and now it’s worrisome because we have even failed to maintain a lead and spending a full match without managing a shot on target makes it difficult.
“It’s still game on and we only have to keep our heads high and hope for a change of form in the coming matches.

“What we need to seriously work on is our attitude towards teams, especially those are the bottom of the log at the moment.”
Following the defeat at the weekend, they surrendered the top position to Dynamos albeit on goal difference, although both teams are tied on 23 points.
