HIGHLANDERS took advantage of the Fifa international break and embarked on a week-long training camp in Beitbridge before their next league game against flamboyant new Castle Lager Premier Soccer League side Scottland FC at Barbourfields Stadium.
Coach Kelvin Kaindu is excited and satisfied with his players’ responses in the border town and hopes that the attitude down there is transferred to the upcoming games.
They are set to play a practice match this afternoon with a top side in Beitbridge, which Kaindu would not name.
“Our objective is now how we are going to play but for us to bond the team and to allow a bit of cohesion and conditioning in player fitness,” the Mahlolanyama mentor.
“We hope we get the best. Like I said, the response has been tremendous. Even when we are doing more training sessions than our normal ones, we have seen the improvement.
“There are so many positives that we have seen from this outing and we just hope that from here as we go to the next league games, we have the same mentality and attitude that we have seen from everybody that is part of the team here.”
The Zambian gaffer said the camp is meant for team bonding as they did not have much of that in pre-season.
He said there were new players who had just joined the team, but was not at liberty to release their names.

Before the Fifa transfer ban was lifted, the team had only managed to register 17 players, but luckily, the censure was lifted before the transfer window closes on March 31.
New faces that have popped up at Bosso include defender Malvern Hativagoni from Bulawayo Chiefs, striker Tendai Muvuti from Hwange, midfielder Hubert Ncube from ZPC Hwange, Panashe Mushonga, who played as a striker at Chegutu Pirates, and Mbonisi Ncube, who was with Botswana’s BDF XI last year
Two juniors Luckmore Mutumbi and Junior Chiweta were promoted to the senior team.
“We are trying to use the few days of the international break,” Kaindu said.
“Looking at the way we started our season, we did not have a proper pre-season and we are just hoping to use these few days for mainly team bonding.
“We are using this time to bond the players, especially those that have joined in. So far, the response has been quite tremendous, we are seeing so many positives. The weather has been okay just the same as Bulawayo.”
He added: “When you are together with everyone, it is easy for you to structure your programme, you may even do more than what is required.
“We just hope that we get it right with whatever we are doing here. Our main objective is team building and maybe utilise the few days for the team conditioning.”
