AMBITIOUS Castle Lager Premier Soccer League debutants Scottland FC continue to bring innovation to local football after partnering Discovery Ambulance Services for their membership packages.

Discovery Ambulance Services joins Ecobank, who will provide loan services access as part of the club’s membership benefits.

Scottland FC, who had a good start to the league season, unveiled their new partnership at a Press conference in Harare yesterday.

They also used the event to roll out five different membership tiers for their fans, which is expected to revolutionise fan engagement in Zimbabwe football.

“It’s an honour to be in front of you again as Scottland is unveiling something truly special for the Scottland Football Club. As you know, Scottland Football Club is more than just a club.

“This is an actual movement. We want to change the face of football, to change football,” club chairman Tonderai Sakupwanya said.

“And you’ve seen it yourselves, the stadiums were getting empty. But if you watched all the games that have been going on, the stadiums have been packed.

“People want to see what exactly Scottland is bringing and what they’re doing. So it’s a movement, it’s a community and a legacy in the making.”

Added Sakupwanya: “Today, we are taking a bold step in strengthening the bond between the club and supporters through the launch of our official membership programme.

“We don’t want to do things that other clubs have done in this space, where being a club member does not entail any benefits. But we want to redefine what the membership of a club.”

The membership packages include Diamond, Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze tiers, which carry different benefits.

The Diamond package is going for US$2 500 annually and includes loans of up to US$4 000 from Ecobank, Discovery Ambulance Services 24-hour immediate response, hospital cash plan and InnBucks discounts among other benefits.

One has to pay US$1 500 for Platinum class which also have loans ambulances services, funeral cash back and hospital cash plan among the benefits.

The Gold membership is going for US$1 000, Silver class US$500 and Bronze US$300.

It is only the Bronze package which does not include ambulance services, but has financial and medical privileges.

Discovery Ambulance Services head of operations Taylor Mvududu hailed the partnership as life-changing.

“We are absolutely excited as well to have been integrated with Scottland Football Club in terms of providing and ensuring medical inclusion,” he said.

“I think the majority of us, as we know, have not been able to access medical care. The statistics tell us that over 90% of Scottland fans are not on any medical coverage. And this partnership with Scottland is bringing that to a very, very affordable price nationally.”

Added Mvududu: “And all by the click of a button, all one has to do is join any one of these packages from as little as US$2 500 and going down.

“And all you need to do, should you be involved in any accident or any life-threatening emergency, all you have to do is dial 991. A toll-free number available to you 24/7.”

Ecobank senior executive Mike Dengwane explained how the loans will be accessible to the members of Scottland FC.

"So the process flow is such that we have got supporters of Scottland scattered across the country,” he said.

“Within their localities, they are free to approach the Ecobank branches in those areas where they can then lodge their application.

“So what will happen is the club will put their endorsement or will put their letter confirming that, indeed, this one is a supporter or a member of the fans of Scottland Football Club.”
