LOVENESS Wadzanai Mukura etched her name in the history books of Zimbabwean football becoming the first female presidium member of ZIFA after winning the vice presidential race in Harare today.
Mukura secured 65% of the votes at the ZIFA vice presidential elections held in Harare on Saturday afternoon.
Mukura's historic win followed Nqobile Magwizi's landslide victory in the presidential race, where he polled 61 votes, translating to 80% of the total votes.
Former Premier Soccer League chief executive officer Kennedy Ndebele is the other vice president.
Mukura, 36, garnered 43 votes out of a possible 77, while Mavis Gumbo, the second-best female candidate, polled 26 votes.
In her post-election interview with NewsDay Sport, Mukura expressed her delight and commitment to serving Zimbabwean football.
"We will stand guided by the president's vision for a better Zimbabwean football," she said.
"Having served the game as a player and later as an administrator with Herentals Queens, I think it really prepared me well for this higher position."

Mukura also emphasised her passion for women's football.
"My bias will be on Women football, but being a national post, I will strive to make a difference for both boys and girls in football."
The newly constituted ZIFA board will comprise Magwizi, Kennedy Ndebele, Makura, Tafadzwa Benza, Muchena, Brighton Ushendibaba, Kudzai Kadzombe, Alice Zeure, and Marambanyika.
