ALICE Zeure, a renowned legal mind, is eager to bring about transformative change in Zimbabwean football.
As she addressed the gathering of women, she pledged to carry through their mandate.
“I'm humbled to stand before you today. As a tall person, I feel small in your presence and I want to assure you that I hold you in the highest respect and honour. I'm here to apply for a position to serve you, and if chosen to represent you on the Zifa executive committee, I pledge to faithfully carry out your mandate," Zeure said.
A native of Zaka, Alice's academic prowess shone bright from her early days at Mashoko High, where she achieved an impressive 15 points at A’ Level. Her academic excellence paved the way for her to study law at the University of Zimbabwe.
The Harare City Council the legal adviser, Zeure boasts an impressive array of academic credentials, including Master's degrees in Political Science, Business Administration and Commercial Law. Her expertise has been further honed through training with Cosafa in Women in Leadership.
As she sets her sights on the Zifa executive committee, Zeure is driven by a passion to harness her legal expertise to elevate women's football in Zimbabwe.
She is particularly drawn to the legal, governance and player status committee, where she aims to apply her knowledge of the law to create a more equitable and just environment for women in football.
Zeure's vision is rooted in a deep understanding of the Zifa constitution, which she believes holds immense potential for promoting gender balance.

She is committed to ensuring that each of the eight standing committees has a woman representative, thereby guaranteeing a stronger voice for women in the decision-making process.
"I aim to utilise my legal expertise to enhance our women's game within Zifa. Upon reviewing the constitution, I was impressed to find that it mandates gender balance across all eight standing committees," Zeure said.
"I'm eager to represent you and ensure that each committee, including those overseeing national team events, has a female representative."
One of Zeure's primary objectives is to challenge and dismantle the entrenched patriarchal attitudes that have historically hindered women's participation in football. She is determined to create a more inclusive and supportive environment, where women can thrive and reach their full potential.
Her commitment to the welfare of women in football extends beyond mere representation. Zeure is troubled by the plight of Zimbabwe's football legends, who have been neglected and forgotten despite their remarkable contributions to the sport. She wants the legends to be recognised and rewarded for their service, perhaps through honorary executive positions or a legends' salary.
She is a champion of women's football, driven by a fierce dedication to justice, equality and transparency.
"When I join the committee, I'll ensure you receive exemption discs to watch our national teams play. Article 22 allows the executive to appoint honorary members, so our VP (aspiring woman vice president Loveness Wadzanai Mukura) who has made immense sacrifices for the game both as a player and now an administrator, can hold both positions. We must recognise the contributions of those who have worked tirelessly for football," she said.
"I'll address corporate governance issues with transparency, accountability, fairness and equity, as outlined in Article 2 of the Zifa constitution. If I'm elected, it's a victory for all of you, so don't worry too much."
