His sponsor Maganga extended his gratitude to the organisers for giving Chabarwa the opportunity to showcase his talent to the world at large.

ZIMBABWE men’s handball team captain Peter Chabarwa is currently in Rwanda, where he is having trials with a top German-linked club.

Chabarwa, who is also a Manyame Falcons Handball Club star player and captain, travelled to Rwanda last weekend and will be attached to German-linked club called Ubuntu.

This opportunity marks a significant milestone for Zimbabwe handball, demonstrating the country’s growing presence in the international handball scene.

Manyame Falcons Handball Club’s recent good performances and match videos helped Ubuntu notice Chabarwa.

He is overwhelmed with pride for achieving such a milestone.

“It feels great to be selected for trials with the German club and seeing my name at the top. I am thankful to God first, then my coach and not forgetting my sponsor Simeon Maganga, who assisted with flight bookings, itinerary and everything I may need in Rwanda,” Chabarwa said.

“My target is to be selected, secure a first team jersey and to become the most valuable player in the team’s league.”

His sponsor Maganga extended his gratitude to the organisers for giving Chabarwa the opportunity to showcase his talent to the world at large.

Manyame Falcons handball Club coach Alouis Nyamhanga added that the trials are important to the club because it motivates others to keep working hard for their efforts “can be recognised internationally, like what happened to Chabarwa and as a country this puts us on the map”.

“Already, there is an inquiry for his teammate at Falcons who is likely to leave this week to join him for trials,” he said.

Added Nyamhanga: “Peter had been doing very well locally, helping us as Manyame Falcons to win about more than six gold medals in Cup competitions and national league championship.

“He has taken that form to the trials he is having.”
