They go into their Chibuku Super Cup quarterfinal match against Ngezi Platinum Stars tomorrow with a spring in their step, having won four of their last five matches after stemming a four-match winless streak.

LLOYD Chitembwe has credited the players for the team’s recent resurgence, with Caps United looking to turn what was threatening to be a disastrous season into a decent one.

They go into their Chibuku Super Cup quarterfinal match against Ngezi Platinum Stars tomorrow with a spring in their step, having won four of their last five matches after stemming a four-match winless streak.

On Sunday, they staged a memorable comeback against Highlanders to win 3-2, having trailed 2-0 at some point in the first half.

Makepekepe were two goals down inside the opening 30 minutes, but late strikes from Junior Bunjira and substitute Lot Chiwunga turned the game on its head as Chitembwe’s men won the five-goal thriller at Rufaro Stadium.

The weekend victory ensured the Green Machine stretched their unbeaten run to six matches in all competitions.

“It’s down to the players,” Chitembwe said.

“They have been doing great in training and obviously, the application in matches has been excellent. This is all what this football club is all about . . . It’s about excellence and doing these things consistently. We look forward to the next games.”

Chitembwe will now be hoping for a similarly determined performance as Caps United’s resurgence faces yet another tough test when they travel to the Baobab Stadium
