Eight games remain before the curtain comes down, with the Shamva-based side pretty poised with 53 points on pole position.

SIMBA BHORA coach Tonderai Ndiraya is not getting carried away despite his team opening a seven-point lead at the summit of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.

He believes their rivals Ngezi Platinum Stars and Manica Diamonds are still within a striking distance to clinch the title.

Eight games remain before the curtain comes down, with the Shamva-based side pretty poised with 53 points on pole position.

FC Platinum are the closest rivals, with 46 points.

Manica Diamonds and Ngezi Platinum Stars follow in that order with 42 and 41 points, respectively, although the latter have two games in hand.

Ndiraya still believes the PSL title is still anyone’s to take.

The former Dynamos coach is not only focused on FC Platinum, as he feels Madamburo and the Gem Boys are still in the race.

He made these remarks after his men were made to sweat for a 2-1 win by relegation threatened TelOne at Ascot Stadium on Sunday.

“Everyone seems to be focused on FC Platinum in this race. But from the way I see it, Ngezi Platinum, the current champions, are still in it.

“We can’t rule them out because they have been working their way up. The same goes for Manica Diamonds, they still have a chance,” Ndiraya said.

“For us, it has always been one day at a time. We won this one [against TelOne], now we shift focus to Highlanders, whom we face in the Chibuku Super Cup.

“With eight games left to play, I believe anything is still possible because every team we meet will have a point to prove.”

Added Ndiraya: “You can tell from the game we played against TelOne. We had to fight to win, hence the need to handle the team on how to manage pressure.

“We also have to grind results under all circumstances. The race is still on, we can achieve our objectives, if we keep the focus.”
