HARARE giants Dynamos put one foot into the lucrative TotalEnergies Caf Confederation Cup group stages after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Botswana side Orapa United at Obedi Intani Chilume Stadium in Francistown.

Valentine Kadonzvo came from the bench to score the solitary goal three minutes from regulation time as DeMbare take the lead to the second leg at the same venue on Sunday. A win or a draw will take Dynamos into the group stages of Africa’s second tier club tournament.

Dynamos will be hosting Orapa at the same stadium as Zimbabwe does not have a Caf-certified stadium.

The Lloyd-Chigowe coached side has been grinding results on their return to the African Safari after a 10-year hiatus.

Chigowe, who was thrust onto the hot seat, in an acting capacity  following the abrupt resignation of then coach Genesis Mangombe, has won two and drawn one in his three Caf Confederation cup matches in charge. Dynamos beat ZESCO and Orapa on identical 1-0 scorelines and played a goalless draw away to ZESCO.
