BLACK Rhinos won both their weekend matches to pile pressure on Nedbank Premier Netball League (NPL) leaders ZDF Queens at the top of the table.
The two teams are tied at the summit on 38 points, although the unbeaten ZDF Queens have played a game less and boast a healthy goal difference of 1 171 compared to Rhinos’ 961 from 20 matches.
The two uniformed forces’ sides have opened an eight-point lead at top of the log and it will take some hardwork from their competitors to nudge them out of the way.
Harare District sits in third place with 30 points, two ahead of fourth-placed Harare City, while Stormers are fifth on the table with 25 points.
The bottom section of the log is made up of St Paul and Peter on number 14 with four points, the same as Zupco in 15th place, while Waterfalls, with one win, anchor the standings on two points.
Black Rhinos closed the gap on ZDF Queens at the weekend in Gweru when they beat City Angels 28-58 before edging JT High Flyers 33-34 in their second match, with Tafadzwa Matura duly voted the best player.
ZDF played one match over the weekend, beating Mutare City 30-71 in Mutare to maintain their hegemony in the league.
Mutare also succumbed to Harare District 27-29, but will find inspiration in knowing that their star player, Cynthia Matondo, was named the best player for the Mutare Bubble.
