THE Zifa normalisation committee is considering two possible neutral venues to host Cameroon in next month’s Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifiers.

The Warriors are away to Kenya early next month in the opening Group J of the 2025 Morocco Afcon qualifiers.

But the East African nation has said it will host the Warriors in Uganda at the Nelson Mandela National Stadium since they, just like Zimbabwe, don’t have a Caf-certified stadium to host international matches.

The stadium is in Namboole, Kampala in Uganda.

Kenya’s two main stadiums, Nyayo Stadium and Kasarani Sports Complex, are currently undergoing renovations in preparation for CHAN 2025, and Afcon 2027 and are not yet ready for use.

Reports yesterday suggested that Zimbabwe would remain in Uganda to host the Indomitable Lions.

However, Zifa general-secretary Yvonne Manwa told NewsDay Sport that they were yet to reach that decision.

She admitted that while Uganda was a viable option for logistical reasons, they were also considering taking the game to South Africa, where Zimbabwe enjoy considerable support.

“We are yet to finalise,” Manwa said.

“We are looking at two places, that is Uganda and South Africa, but we have not confirmed any of those as yet.

“We are still doing the logistics. We will let the nation know when we have finalised the processes. People should stop spreading rumours.”

Zimbabwe face Kenya on September 4, before playing Cameroon six days later.

Already, Zimbabwe played their previous two home matches at neutral venues.

The Warriors hosted Nigeria in Rwanda last year, before playing Lesotho in South Africa this year in the 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifiers.

Zimbabwe are under new Germany coach Michael Nees, who was confirmed a fortnight ago.

The expatriate, whose work permit is being processed, is expected in the country next week to start work.

His first assignment will be to select a squad to play in the upcoming qualifiers.

The remaining Group J Afcon matches will be played in October and November.

In October, Zimbabwe play back-to-back matches against Namibia.

The two matches are likely to be played in South Africa since the Namibians also don’t have a Caf-certified stadium.

Zimbabwe will then host Kenya before travelling to Cameroon at the start of November.

Two teams that finish at the top of the group after the round robin matches will automatically qualify to the Afcon finals set for Morocco next year.
