Benza in England on attachment

Benza said the stint has improved his knowledge of the game.

HERENTALS midfielder Tino Benza is in the United Kingdom for a two-week learning mission as the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League is on a break.

He will be back in time for the resumption of the league programme at the weekend, when the Students travel to Mutare for a date with Bikita Minerals.

Benza said the stint has improved his knowledge of the game.

“I have been here for more than a week now and it’s all good. I am exposed to top-notch modern day training methods and I believe I will be able to do exactly what I am being taught here when the league resumes,” he said.

“It’s very taxing, but the effort is worth it. I haven’t been able to rest since I arrived here and I am enjoying everything associated with this attachment.”

Besides the modern day training facilities and methods, Benza is also being exposed to dietary requirements for players.

“The facility has a lot of specialists to help tick all the boxes needed by professional players.

“There are coaches and performance analysts for each individual in the field of play. You get to know whether you are improving and in what aspect,” Benza said.

“There are psychologists who will always talk to you, before, during and after training. And, there are nutritionists who upon meticulously analysing your body profile recommend the type of food that fits it.

“I am very happy with what I am being taught and advised here. I hope that will help me improve my general play.”

Benza has made it to the Soccer Stars calendar twice on the trot and remains a key figure for the Students.

There has been a positional change this season, which has limited his goal tally so far.

He is, however, unfazed by the positional switch.

“I am happy to take a new position in the field. I have been enjoying the deeper role, where I get more involved in play.

“At the end of the day, what I love to see is Herentals winning games. I have been told that I will be reverting to be an outright attacker and I don’t have any problems with that,” Benza said.

“I just hope it will help me get more goals for the team.

“I love scoring and I believe I will have better chances to score when I take a position higher up the field.”

Herentals will be looking to do some business in the current transfer window.

They have had a decent campaign so far and are 11th on the league table at the halfway stage of the campaign.

The Students played out a goalless draw in their last match, having previously seen their 10-match unbeaten run halted by Ngezi Platinum Stars.
