Chicken Inn target approaches FUZ

Feldman is believed to be owed five months’ salary by Chiefs.

BULAWAYO Chiefs risk losing midfielder Miguel Feldman if the club fails to pay him his outstanding salaries.

Sources have indicated that Chicken Inn are targeting Feldman, among other players. The midfielder has a running contract with The Ninjas, but has since engaged the Footballers Union of Zimbabwe (FUZ) to have his dues paid or he becomes a free agent which allows him to join a club of his choice.

Feldman is believed to be owed five months’ salary by Chiefs.

FUZ spokesperson Wonder Sithole yesterday confirmed that they are assisting Feldman.

“We have given Bulawayo Chiefs a default notice to pay Feldman his outstanding salaries. He is still a Bulawayo Chiefs player, but they have a July 8 deadline to pay his dues and if they fail, we will terminate his contract,” Sithole said.

Another FUZ official said the matter will be taken to Zifa player status committee if Chiefs have not paid by July 8 or refuse to give the player clearance to join another club.

Efforts to get a comment from Bulawayo Chiefs were fruitless.

Bulawayo Chiefs have struggled financially over the years and have lost top players as a result.

However, they have managed to hang on in the Premier Soccer League since their promotion in 2018. Last year, they lost the most sought-after striker Obriel Chirinda, who joined reigning champions Ngezi Platinum Stars.

Other players who left Chiefs include Malvin Mkolo, Mthokozisi Msebe, Ayanda Ncube, Billy Veremu, Mandla Gasela and Ben Nyahunzvi, among others.

Coach Thulani Sibanda, who has been in and out of the club since its promotion, had to raid Division One clubs and add a few veteran players to make up a squad for the 2024 season.

Never Rauzhi, plucked from the Lowveld where Sibanda was coaching relegated Triangle, was a good find for the coach as the striker has banged in six goals to date.

The Ninjas have been coached by the late Rahman Gumbo, Lizwe Sweswe, Joseph Ngwenya, Johanisi Nhumwa and Portuguese national Nilton Terrosoin the six years they have been in the premiership.
