PSL resumes after Cosafa shift

PSL have taken advantage of the shift to resume domestic activity

THE Castle Lager Premier Soccer League programme will resume the weekend after this one following the postponement of the Cosafa Cup tournament.

The league was set to start on June 22 after the 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifiers amd the Cosafa Cup.

The Warriors face Lesotho at Orlando Stadium on Friday and then South Africa at Free State Stadium on Tuesday in the Group C campaign.

The Cosafa Cup was to follow in Durban but new dates will be set for either this month or in July.

PSL spokesperson Kudzai Bare yesterday confirmed the games have been brought forward and fixtures will be released soon.

“This serves to advise that following the postponement of the 2024 Cosafa tournament, the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League will now resume on Saturday, June 15 2024. An updated fixture schedule will be circulated soon,” Bare said.

The last league games were played on May 26 which saw round 14 of the matches taking place.

Manica Diamonds rule the roost on the log standings with 29 points from 14 games.

When the games resume, Manica Diamonds are away to Yadah while second-placed FC Platinum (28 points) will also hit the road to Bulawayo Chiefs in the City of Kings and Queens.

Simba Bhora on the third spot with 24 points will be home to Arenel Movers while Highlanders with 22 points will host Bikita Minerals.

Chicken Inn also with 22 points will be away to league champions Ngezi Platinum Stars.
