THE Rainbow Amateur Netball League (RANL) will host its awards ceremony for the 2023 season on Friday to reward outstanding individuals and excelling teams.

The event will be hosted at High Achievers Coach International Academy in Borrowdale.

The season was concluded in November with a number of thrilling matches from 16 teams in the league.

For the third time in a row, Glow Petroleum managed to retain the title with 64 points, four points clear of the second placed Correctional Queens who amassed 60 points, while ZRP Mambas completes the top three with 56  points.

The league's secretary general Moses Gukurume said preparations for the ceremony are progressing well as they look forward to a glittering ceremony.

“Our preparations are going on well and we hope to have an exciting event. Of notable change in this year's edition is the People's Choice award which is quite an exciting one because it gives our fans and stakeholders a chance to choose individuals whom they think excelled in the 2023 season,” Gukurume said.

With preparations for the coming season already on the cards, Gukurume said they seek to improve the brand and also work on issues of concern especially player migration.

“Going forward into the 2024 season, we are looking at tightening the screws in as far as player registration in concerned. We have noted with great concern that players are migrating from team to team without proper authority from the governing RANL board. So we are saying players should be registered with one team and hold one licence to play in one league.”

“We are also looking at extending our wings to other corners of the country where other teams have shown interest to play for the league- we are going to consider them. We will also increase our visibility, we want to be pro-active in terms of marketing our brand,” he said.
