WARRIORS midfielder Marvelous Nakamba has received positive scan results after picking up a knee problem while on national duty last month, with the injury not as bad as first feared by his English Premier League side Luton Town.

Nakamba twisted his knee in the first half of Zimbabwe's World Cup qualifier against Nigeria in Rwanda but soldiered on to finish the game as the Warriors battled to hold the Super Eagles to a 1-all draw.

The 29-year-old could not, however, feature against Crystal Palace on his return to Luton as the knee was swollen, and there were fears that he could have suffered a serious injury.

Ahead of Luton’s match against Brentford on Saturday, a game in which Nakamba also watched from the sidelines, his coach Rob Edwards gave a positive update on the midfielder's fitness, revealing that scan results showed no serious knee damage.

“It’s his knee, it was swollen and he had some discomfort, but he’s had scans, checks and it’s not too serious,” said the Luton boss. “He’s been on the grass at times this week but he’s not quite right and won’t be ready this week.”

Nakamba has been a key member of Luton since joining the promoted team at the start of the season, starting in all their league games before last month's international break.

He is expected to return to the lineup when Luton host log leaders Arsenal on Tuesday. After that, the Hatters who are just above the relegation zone, travel to Manchester City for another tough fixture.
