DYNAMOS came from behind to beat Chicken Inn at the National Sports Stadium to move back into second position on the log standings.

Malvern Hwata danced past defenders to give his side a second minute lead for his 10th goal of the season, but Shadreck Nyahwa's header in the first half additional time levelled matters.

Teenager Elton Chikona then decided the contest in the 86th minute with a dinking effort over goalkeeper Pride Zendera.

Victory took Dynamos to second position on the log standings with 54 points, nine behind champions Ngezi Platinum Stars with two matches remaining.

Chicken Inn remained on fifth position with 45 points.

Dynamos assistant coach Lloyd Chigowe said his side were punished for a sloppy start to the game.

“We started clumsily,” Chigowe said. "Our boys were still at the hotel, but at least they showed character to come back and grab all three points. That augurs well for us going forward in our objective of the coming second. If you can't be first, at least be second."

Losing coach Prince Matore was disappointed in the manner his team conceded the goals.

“It’s sad we lost because in the second half we came a much improved side, creating so many half chances, but we could not score. We were then punished on the transition when we lost the ball in a dangerous area.”

Without three starters in captain Frank Makarati, Tanaka Shandirwa — who are with the national team — and the suspended Junior Makunike, Dynamos started the match in chaotic fashion. Chicken Inn took full advantage after Hwata beat two defenders to slot the ball past an exposed Prince Tafiremutsa in goals for DeMbare.

The goal appeared to jolt the home side who took the game to the visitors, creating a number of half chances, most of which were wasted by the out of sorts Jayden Bakari.

Donald Mudadi's half volley was pushed out by Chicken Inn’s Zendera as the hosts cranked up the pressure. The Gamecocks finally succumbed in the last seconds of the first half when Nyahwa headed in an Issa Sadiki corner to level matters heading into the break.

Chicken Inn started the second half brightly, but it was Dynamos who almost doubled their lead only for Chikona to drag his shot wide from a one on one situation.

The 19-year-old atoned for his earlier glaring miss with an audacious chip over Zendera from a rebound after the goalkeeper had blocked an Ilunga shot.
