Manwa is a former chief executive for local football side Ngezi Platinum Stars and becomes the second woman to assume the post after Henrietta Rushwaya.

The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has appointed Yvonne Mapika Manwa as the new chief executive officer effective November 1, 2023.

The local football body has been without a CEO since 2021 when the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) suspended Joseph Mamutse.

In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), the ZIFA chairperson Lincoln Mutasa said Manwa’s involvement will assist in the mission to “transform” local football.

“We are thrilled to welcome Mrs Manwa to our team, and we believe her experience and leadership will be invaluable as we continue on the mission to transform Zimbabwean football,” said Mutasa.

Manwa is a former chief executive for local football side Ngezi Platinum Stars and becomes the second woman to assume the post after Henrietta Rushwaya.

She will also be responsible for leading the association secretariat into its next phase under the Normalisation Committee.
