The Mighty Warriors are currently participating at the Cosafa Cup tournament in South Africa and are hoping to defy odds and bring the trophy home after shoddy preparations ahead of making a return to international football following a Fifa ban.

It is alleged that a male member of the technical team sexually abused one of the players.

There are three male coaches in the team who include head coach Shadreck Mlauzi as well as assistant coaches Yohane Chikaola and Ndega Matsika.

In a statement, Zifa said an investigation was underway over misconduct without specifying the type of misconduct.

The coach is alleged to have inappropriately touched the player and she reported the matter.

Zifa's statement comes days after the allegations first emerged.

"The Zimbabwe Football Association has received a report of misconduct against members of the senior women's national team," the statement by Zifa boss Lincoln Mutasa read." The team traveled with a qualified safeguarding officer who is on the ground attending to the matter. The association is taking the matter seriously and is currently carrying out independent investigations to get to the bottom of the allegations. Zifa condemns all forms of misconduct and will ensure that anyone found guilty will be punished accordingly."

The is seemingly focused on its mission to bring glory home having won two of their three group matches before they drew with Malawi to finish top of Pool C after conceding just one goal.

They face a tough assignment against Zambia, who have had the better of Mighty Warriors in their most recent clashes.
