Cynthia Malaba assumes the role of vice chairperson

FIFA have bolstered the ZIFA normalisation commitee by adding Cynthia Malaba to assume the responsibilities of vice chairperson of the organisation.

The chartered accountant becomes the fifth member of the committee tasked to run the association affairs until June next year.

Committee chairman Lincoln Mutasa announced the development in a statement yesterday.

"We have the pleasure to inform you that FIFA have added Ms Cynthia Malaba, a chartered accountant to the normalisation committee team. She brings wealth of knowledge and many years of experience in the corporate world," Mutasa wrote.

Other members in the committee include former Mighty Warriors coach and player Rosemary Mugadza, former Highlanders player Sikhumbuzo Ndebele and lawyer Nyasha Sanyamandwe.

FIFA put the normalisation committee in June to run the affairs of ZIFA for the next 12 months.

This follows the lifting of the suspension of Zimbabwe from the international football fora.

The committee's immediate task is to appoint the Warriors coach to take charge of the team's 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers which begin later this year.
