Pfumbidzai bids farewell to Chippa United

Before parting ways with Chippa United, Pfumbidzai was on parade as the club held Golden Arrows to a goalless draw on Saturday.

RONALD Pfumbidzai has bid farewell to South African Premiership side Chippa United after one season with the club.

The highly-rated 28-year-old will join SuperSport United ahead of the 2023/24 season. He will share the same dressing room with compatriots Onismor Bhasera and George Chigova.

Pfumbidzai leaves the Chilli Boys after helping them preserve their premiership status following a season filled with many ups and downs.

The former Caps United leftback was lured to the top South African club as a direct replacement for Thayataone Dithlokwe who joined Kaizer Chiefs.

Before parting ways with Chippa United, Pfumbidzai was on parade as the club held Golden Arrows to a goalless draw on Saturday.

That was the final match of the 2022/23 DStv Premiership season.

"I appreciate the opportunity I had here at Chippa United to grow my career and be a part of the team,” Pfumbidzai posted on Facebook. "I'll never forget the experiences I had working here. All the best for the future. Ayeye Chilli boys. Enough respect."

He leaves the Gqeberha-based club after 21 matches where he managed four goals this season.

In South Africa, Pfumbidzai played for the now-defunct Bloemfontein Celtic where he excelled. He has also been a key player in the Warriors set-up.
