BULAWAYO CHIEFS are confident of victory in their clash with Ngezi Platinum Stars in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at Baobab Stadium today.
The Ninjas are coming from a win over Black Rhinos in what was a grueling tie that saw them collect maximum points at home courtesy of a solitary goal by Perfect Chikwende towards the end of the game last week.
Besides losing to Dynamos, Chiefs have had a good run recently but still linger in the middle of the table, on position 10 on the rankings with eight games to go to the end of the season.
Coach Nilton Terroso yesterday said the Ninjas were on cloud nine after the victory over the army side in the highly-physical game last weekend.
“In terms of what we have done on the pitch, the boys have continued to work hard. It is always a little bit easy on the background of victory. Your concern will be around morale and how the players would be feeling at that point in time; confidence and belief continue to be high, so that is good for us,” Terroso said.
He added: “It’s a very big game. Away games are difficult for us and Ngezi are a club that in the previous season have been always on the top and made it to the Chibuku Cup final. For us it’s a good test and at the same time it should be something we look at as a sign in terms of how we are growing and developing and trying to rub shoulders with the big guys. We are going to compete, but most importantly we are going to look at what we have done up to now which is our performance and how we play.”
Ngezi Platinum are also coming from a victory where they came from behind to beat Chicken Inn at Luveve Stadium on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Bulawayo City continue their fight to stay in the top league following the debilitating 3-0 defeat to Triangle at Gibbo Stadium on Sunday as they host Cranborne Bullets at Barbourfields Stadium.
